About

Christ Church Cathedral maintains a music programme that has benefited this city for nearly two hundred years — the first records of music at the Cathedral date from 1835. During this time, the choirs, organists and musicians of the Cathedral have enhanced the worship of our church, diocese and city, and provided entertainment on the concert platform in one of Australia’s finest and most historic cathedral buildings.

The Cathedral Choir is at the heart of music-making within our Cathedral. Consisting of approximately thirty choristers of varying ages, the choir sings for the Eucharist and Evensong liturgies each Sunday throughout the year. Repertoire for the Cathedral Choir is drawn from the choral traditions of England and Europe, intertwined with a rich heritage of contemporary settings, anthems and canticles by local composers.
